Batman @ Frank Miller

This masterpiece of modern comics storytelling brings to vivid life a dark world and an even darker man. Together with inker Klaus Janson and colorist Lynn Varley, writer/artist Frank Miller completely reinvents the legend of Batman in his saga of a near-future Gotham City gone to rot, ten years after the Dark Knight's retirement.

And more important, can anyone survive the coming fallout of an undeclared war between the superpowers - or a clash of what were once the world's greatest superheroes?

The Dark Knight Returns är förmodligen en av världens mest kända Graphic Novels.TDKR har gjorts om som både tecknad film och har inspirerat både Christopher Nolans Batmantrilogi samt den kommande Batman V Superman av Zack Snyder.
Den handlar om en åldrad Bruce Wayne som inte varit Batman på över 10 år, och hans återkomst som Den Mörke Riddaren i ett Gotham City som håller på att gå under.
Han möter och slåss mot alltifrån ett gatugäng som kallar sig the Mutants, till Jokern och Mannen av Stål himself, Superman.
Det är mörkt, skitigt och dystert - och i mitt tycke har Batman sällan gjort sig bättre!
Trots att jag vet vad som komma skall så är det en fröjd att läsa TDKR, dels på grund av stilen på tecknandet, men även för känslorna som Frank Miller lyckas uppbåda inom mig.
Så, vill du läsa en mörk, vuxen Batmanhistoria är detta sannerligen ett utmärkt val!

It's been three years since the events of The Dark Knight Returns, and everything is just fine.  At least on the surface.  What the world at large doesn't know is that it's a total sham.  A perfectly choreographed, pretty little world where everything that's ugly, or even potentially disturbing, is all nicely wrapped up with neat little ribbons and swept under the carpet.  Only he knows better.  He's watched it fester to near-breaking point, and it's time for the only free man left who can effect any real change to bring it all down around their ears once and for all.

The Dark Knight returns once again with a vitality unseen since the first years of his war on crime.  Together with his army of Bat-soldiers, including Carrie Kelley—formerly Robin, and now the new Catgirl—the Dark Knight wages a new war on a diseased world that's become completely lost.

The Dark Knight Strikes Again features appearances by such DC icons as Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, the Atom, the Question and more.  But are they still the World's Greatest Heroes or part of the conspiracy?

The Dark Knight Strikes Back, del 2 av 3, var även den en mycket trevlig läsning, om än inte på långa vägar lika bra som TDKR.
Den blev smått rörig då och då, var faktiskt lite svårt att hänga med i handlingen eftersom man slängdes hejvilt mellan olika PoV med olika handlingar, men det bästa med den var det faktum att det KRYLLADE av superhjältar och andra välkända DC-karaktärer! Man får träffa alltifrån Green Arrow, the Atom, Black Canary, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Martian Manhunter, the Question, Lex Luthor, Green Lantern, Captain Marvel, Brainiac och the Joker.
Så även om TDKSA inte var riktigt lika stark som del 1 i trilogin så var den fortfarande en av de mest fascinerande Graphic Novels jag någonsin har läst, och jag är övertygad om att jag kommer att läsa om den många gånger i framtiden.



Del 3, kallad The Master Race, kommer att börja publiceras under hösten 2015.
